IRGC Deterrence to Dissuade Enemy Attack

Posted date:  August 21, 2013  |  No comment

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) of the Iran Navy is being used as a means of hindering potential confrontation with possible rivals. Currently, the threat of an encounter with the IRGC intimidates rivals. At this time, the primary concern of the IRGC is of potential aggression in the Persian Gulf, and the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait is a crucial oil shipping lane for large amounts of traffic for ships carrying crude oil which pass through the strait daily. In the southern sector of the Bushehr province, the Iranian Navy determines the relevancy of possible threats. The Islamic Republic of Iran has recently instituted system changes to prove their independence, and their might to their opponents. Any attempts to instigate a conflict with the Navy of Iran will be met with “a crushing response”, stated Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi. With the new upgrades to their systems, Iran has made a point of informing non threatening surrounding countries their strength is not intended to be used on them. The upgrades were implemented to ensure their naval security in the Persian Gulf and surrounding waterways. They have assured them these were implemented to deter and intimidate those that would attempt to threaten them.
