India to Start Talks With Iran on Gas Pipeline

Posted date:  March 5, 2014  |  No comment

India is quickly becoming one of Asiaai??i??s big players in the global economic market. With that they are in dire need of energy from a range of sources, from nuclear and coal to solar and natural gas. The need for new and reliable energy sources has pushed India to begin talks with Tehran, Iran, to run a pipe from Oman straight to India to supply Indian industry with the much needed energy to stay competitive and be even more productive.

The pipeline is expected to run from Oman crossing the Sea of Oman and delivering natural gas from Iran to India via this piped connection. The hope is that, with the new natural gas from Iran, India will be able to satiate the thirst that its industry has developed for energy resources.

Salman Khurshid, the Indian Minister of External Affairs, is set to meet with Iranian and Omani leaders, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah and Mohammad Javad Zarif, on Friday to ink out the details of the billion dollar project. The Iranian embassy stated that Iran has been itching to spread its scope by extending energy sales to its nearby neighbor. And India is on the verge of giddiness to jump into the deal and start swimming in the natural gas for use in industry and production of goods and services.
